Notice of Availability of General Assistance

The municipality of Enfield administers a General Assistance program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to Title 22, MRSA section 4305, the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program, and it is available at the Town Office for inspection. Also available for inspection is a copy of the state's general assistance statutes, as copies of the state law are made available to the municipality by the Maine Department of Human Services.

People who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so only at the Town Office on Monday - Wednesday from 7:00am to 4:00 pm. People may call the Town Office at 732-4270 to arrange an appointment.

In case of emergency, applicants may contact the local General Assistance administrator for the Town via the Penobscot Regional Communications Center at (207) 945-4636. Any person unable to contact the local administrator may contact the Department of Human Services at 1-800-442-6003.

Commodity Boxes for Seniors

Commodity boxes are available every 4th Tuesday at the Town Garage for eligible seniors. 
Applications are available at the Town office. You can also apply online through the Eastern Area Agency on Aging website.
